Will Handford heads up the hydro team across the National Trust, leading a team of specialist project managers to deliver hydroelectric projects forming part of the trust’s renewable energy investment programme. The programme’s key target is to deliver a range of renewable projects to enable the trust to meet 50% of its energy needs from renewable energy by 2020. Will’s role is also to provide strategic overview ensuring the key targets are achieved. Will is an electrical and electronic engineer and joined the National Trust in early 2016 after nearly ten years’ experience project managing and designing hydro schemes across the UK. In addition to new build schemes, Will has been involved with a wide range of refurbishment and operation and maintenance projects giving practical, hands-on experience along with operational strategy.
